What a business website needs before it can bring enquiries
A good looking website is not the same as a website that brings enquiries. Seven things make the difference.
1. A clear offer on the first screen
A visitor decides in seconds. The first screen should say what the business does, for whom, and where. If that needs scrolling, many people will not.
2. One obvious action
Most Malaysian customers would rather message than fill in a long form. A WhatsApp button and a call button that stay in thumb reach on a phone do more than a paragraph of contact details.
3. Fast on a phone
Google mainly looks at the phone version of a page, and visitors on mobile data will not wait. Compressed photos and light pages matter more than animation.
4. Proof that is real
Real photos, real details and honest descriptions build trust. Stock photos of someone else's shop do the opposite.
5. The same details everywhere
The business name, address and phone number should match across the website and the Google Business Profile. Differences confuse customers and Google.
6. A short form
Name, WhatsApp number and one question are enough. Every extra field loses some visitors.
7. Counting what works
Without counting calls, WhatsApp taps and form sends, it is guesswork which page or ad brings business. Counting real enquiries, not just visits, shows what to keep doing.
The five second test
Show the home page to someone for five seconds, then take the phone away. Ask what the business does and how to contact it. If they cannot answer, the first screen needs work.
